Victorians
Who were the Victorians? How have their ideas influenced and shaped society today? Explore these questions and more in this project about Queen Victoria, Victorian families and the movers and shakers of the Victorian era.
In this project, children will explore:
• The historical importance of Queen Victoria
• Daily life in Victorian times
• Innovators and pioneers of social, scientific and cultural change
As well as studying Queen Victoria and how the period affected Britain and the World, we will be looking at how it affected Wales, Swansea and Morriston. We have already studied 'Copperopolis' during the beginning of the Autumn Term for our Morriston and Me project, so the children already have some background knowledge. This is a really exciting and interesting topic and I look forward to us exploring how we were affected by the Victorians.
We will be reading 'Street Child' by Berlie Doherty, to give some insight to what life was like for an orphan in Victorian times.
