RMS Titanic was a British passenger liner that was, at the time of construction, the largest ship ever built. Sailing from Southampton, UK to New York City, US, it was on its maiden voyage when it sank after colliding with an iceberg. Around 1500 people of the 2000 passengers onboard died when the Titanic sank on 15th April 1912, making it one of the worst marine disasters in history.
Each year, commemorations and ceremonies are held on the Anniversary of the sinking, 15th April, to pay respects to those who lost their lives.
