Summer Term

Our Summer Term Topic - Are We There Yet?

Are We There Yet?

We are very excited to cover a brand new topic this summer term called - Are We There Yet? We plan to start in our local area, by looking at Morriston, the areas that we live, Swansea and local areas before jetting off around the World to learn about other countries. We are going to celebrate a different country each week (the children will choose the countries we explore) to learn about the country/the weather/landmarks/the language/the currency they use/the landscape/religion/special celebrations/the food and so on.

We have set up our own role play travel agency in class so we can enjoy 'booking' holidays for our friends and sharing what we have learnt about each country.

If you would like to send in any holiday photos of your child in different countries, we would love to share these as part of our celebrations .

We can't wait to explore the World and record where we have been by stamping our passports and creating travel books :)

We enjoyed our transport hunt to find out about different modes of transport! We began by finding pictures around the school and the yard but then found lots of real modes of transport - a plane, cars, a lorry, an ambulance and even a helicopter!

We enjoyed celebrating our first country of the week - Wales! We drew/coloured the welsh flag, researched facts about Wales then recorded them in a digital booklet, we used Google Earth to find our school and houses and learnt the welsh words for weather

Our second country of the week - England. We enjoyed drawing the flag, learning facts about England then making a booklet on the IWB. We played the popular sport in England - football. We used Google Earth to look at famous landmarks and made palace guards.

We had so much fun for 'French Week!' We drew the flag, learnt facts about France and made a booklet about France. We played boules in PE. We tried baguette and croissant then spoke about if we liked it or didn't like it. We used Google Earth to look at the Eiffel Tower then made it out of craft materials. We also enjoyed listening to French music.

This week we celebrated Italy by researching facts and creating a fact file, drawing the flag, trying crostatine and lemon ice cream then recording our likes/dislikes in a pictogram, making the leaning tower of Pisa and playing Italy’s favourite sport - football

#morpsstf1 enjoyed learning about Spain this week! We drew the flag, researched Spain and made a fact file on the computer, learnt a flamenco dance, wrote dawnsio fflamenco in Welsh and made a piñata! #morpsea #morpshum #morpsllc #morpsacl #morpsecc 🦉 28 right to learn

STF1 have thoroughly enjoyed their enterprise project! They researched fruit products then decided what to make, created posters & advertised to every class, made smoothies & sold smoothies. We made a profit of £40.50! #morpsacl #morpsecc #morpshci 🦉 6 right to be healthy

Today we enjoyed making boats for our topic. We made our own boat, predicted which would float or sink. We carried out our investigation and recorded our results.

Sports Day 2021 - we had so much fun with OAU and STF2. We enjoyed egg and spoon races, an obstacle course race, javelin, shot put and discus

Some of our end of school year fun we had this week. The country of the week was Antarctica so we enjoyed some messy play - making an Antarctic scene which involved shaving foam, glitter, ice, cotton wool and penguins. Water play outside today and a game of twister!
