A Child's War

What is bravery?

Bravery can show itself in many forms. Bravery of the soldiers? Bravery of those they left behind? Bravery of the children who became evacuees?

This project teaches children about the causes, events and consequences of the First and Second World Wars, the influence of new inventions on warfare, how life in Great Britain was affected and the legacy of the wars in the post-war period.

How did the Second World War affect Wales? Why were children evacuated from their homes? Explore these questions and more in this special project about the Second World War and its impact on the towns and valleys of Wales.

We are currently using epic planning to decide on a class novel. Pupil voice will decide! The learners will look at the covers and blurb of 5 war related children's novels, they will interrogate the information they find and infer possible outcomes. They will then rate each book. The book with the most votes will be our class novel. Results will be posted here next week (18th Sept). We will be using this novel to develop our empathic skills via the EmpathyLab model.
