Palm Sunday is a Christian celebration that is held on the Sunday before Easter.

It’s marked to celebrate Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem. It’s referred to as ‘Palm Sunday’ as crowds waved palm branches at Jesus.

How do Christians celebrate Palm Sunday?

Palm Sunday is celebrated by going to church, Christians also make crosses out of palm leaves to display in their homes.

Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem

Jesus and his followers went to Jerusalem for the Passover Feast. The bible tells us that Jesus told two of his disciples to bring him a donkey. The followers did as Jesus asked, they found and brought the animal to Jesus.

During Jesus’ entry, a crowd followed waving palm branches as they welcome him. They also sang out “Hosanna” as they praised Jesus’ triumphal entry.  The acts the crowd made to Jesus were seen as a sign of respect and the waving of palm branches was to mark peace and victory for their king.
