'To be the best you can be' - Article 29

Spring 2022

This term the children will learn about the human circulatory system and heart health, developing their knowledge about the workings of the heart and significant medical discoveries. We'll also be looking at the human body and the functions of its main organs.

Our novel for the term is 'Pig Heart Boy' by Malorie Blackman and we'll be reading and discussing the issues as they appear in the book.

Our text-type for this half term is Non-chronological Reports which is perfect for our theme.

Can I please stress this term that all of the pupils learn all of their times tables this term. This is a vital basis for developing their numeracy skills and will make mathematics and understanding number problems a lot easier.

As you may or may not be aware there may be times this term where the class or individuals may switch to online learning. Hopefully this won't be the case however, in case there is some form of isolation at home I will be putting weekly tasks on this page. There will be links from the documents to activities that the children can attempt at home. I will be reminding the children of how to access the various platforms when they return at the beginning of the term.

When attempting the tasks at home I still expect the highest level of effort, presentation and independence possible and I will mark the work accordingly when it is returned to me.

I'd also recommend, should the children be at home learning, beginning a routine of attempting some literacy first thing for example 9am, then numeracy at 10.30, and some other task after lunch taking appropriate breaks in between.
