O.A.U.

The Observation and Assessment Unit was set up in September 2013.  It aims to provide for children who are having difficulties with speech & language, communication and social interaction.

The children are placed with us for a short period where observations and assessments are constantly carried out by Mrs. Lucas (class teacher) and highly qualified Teaching Assistants in conjunction with the Educational Psychologist and Community Paediatricians resulting in a recommendation on a placement to the A.L.N. panel.

The children follow the Cornerstone’s Curriculum which covers a range of topics as well as our daily activities including our topic related check in on the IWB, R.W.I. and Numeracy which are tailored to their needs.  The children enjoy carrying out a range of activities using a multi sensory approach.

REMEMBER we have an open door policy in the O.A.U. and are always willing to lend an ear to our parents.

Many thanks

Mrs. Lucas, Miss Watkins & Miss Otter
